Yu’s Academy of Martial Arts has been training and empowering women and men in Connecticut for over 30 years. Run by Grand Master C.K. Yu, an eighth-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, the school is a gathering place for families and individuals who are committed to physical exercise and living high values and principles.
Martial Art Forms Offered
Yu’s Academy of Martial Arts has two schools in Connecticut (Simsbury and Canton) and offer classes and training in three different disciplines:
- Tae Kwon Do – the art of kicking and punching
- Judo – the gentle way
- Hapkido – the art of coordinated power

Values taught in our school:
The “Do” (pronounced dough) refers to “the way” or the way we choose to live our lives. Martial arts training is an excellent way to instill positive, life-long values and attitudes that promote peace, understanding and respect for all people. At Yu’s Academy of Martial Arts, all students, young and old, learn the 5 values. We refer to them as MPPTR. This stands for:
- Modest
- Patient
- Polite
- Trustworthy
- Respectful
This is an excellent opportunity for children to learn the fundamentals of good behavior and for adults to stay on the right course. Children are also taught the three rules of concentration: focus your eyes, focus your mind, focus your body.
