Beware of Facebook Predators

February 4th, 2011 by admin Leave a reply »

This is creepy. This week I have received two Facebook friend requests from men that I don’t know. Their messages were very intimate and romantic in nature. The messages were almost identical which raised a RED FLAG for me about a new misuse of Facebook. My self defense instincts told me that these two men are likely to be part of some on-line sexual predator ring.

I captured his message as a screen shot, so I could warn others.

Notice how he references a non-profit organization UNICEF to make him seem like a good guy. The line that really creeps me out is “…I hope you will be good and faithful to me.” Is that really something a normal person would say when they are introducing themselves for the first time?? No – that is what a PIMP would say to his slave.

I mistakenly replied to the first creep telling him that I was married and not interested and that he should try  In hindsight, responding to him was probably a mistake. I should not have engaged him. I’m probably on a list somewhere of easy targets for spammers. I should have immediately reported his message as SPAM to Facebook. I am also writing this blog post to alert others of this new scam.

What can you do to keep yourself safer from these potentially dangerous social media ploys?

  • If you are parent reading this, PLEASE share this with your adolescent and teen children. Help them know what to watch out for. This is part of how sex traffickers recruit, entrap, then enslave and exploit their victims.
  • If you are teenager reading this, PLEASE keep yourself safe and don’t engage with on-line predators. It’s not a game…it’s your life that is at stake.
  • If you are a predator who is reading this, GO GET HELP. What you are engaging in is a federal crime. You are harming children just to satisfy your own carnal needs. You will be caught and prosecuted. “Selling the Girl Next Door”

Selling Girl Next Door

Selling the Girl Next Door is an intense and personal journey into the world of underage American girls caught up in the violent world of the sex trade. It’s the product of a yearlong coast to coast investigation of how modern sales and marketing techniques are used to trap up to a quarter million kids in the “oldest profession.”

CNN interviewed everyone from the men that obsessively use the internet to troll for sex to a 13 year old runaway who was sold online out of a Las Vegas hotel. You’ll hear from some of America ‘s most famous prostitutes about their dark pasts and get a guided tour through the underworld of underage sex from their boss, Dennis Hof of the world famous Bunny Ranch brothel. We also dissect the business of selling kids and show how the extraordinary profits are turning everyday criminals into internet pimps.

Finally you’ll discover what it’s like to be the girl on the other side of the sex ad as correspondent Amber Lyon posts an ad, takes calls from creeps and perverts, and then gets trafficked. It’s 21st century sex slavery, up close and personal.
